Shigenori Shiga is Chairman of the Board of Westinghouse Electric Company and interim President and Chief Executive Officer. In June 2011, he was appointed Corporate Senior Vice President, Toshiba Corporation and concurrently serves as Executive Vice President of the Toshiba Power Systems Company.
As Chairman, Mr. Shiga's primary responsibilities are to provide strategic oversight to Westinghouse and to supervise the Westinghouse Board of Directors. He assumed the Chairman’s position on July 1, 2010. He assumed the role of interim President and CEO on April 3, 2012.
From December 2006 to July 2010, Mr. Shiga served as Senior Vice President and Chief Coordination Officer where he was responsible for coordination between Westinghouse and Toshiba to realize synergy effects and expand the Westinghouse business.
Mr. Shiga was appointed Executive Vice President of the Toshiba Power Systems Company in April 2007, responsible for corporate development and strategy. Prior to that appointment, he served as General Manager of Nuclear Business Development, Plant Project Engineering Department and System Engineering Department, Nuclear Energy Division, Industrial and Power Systems & Services Company, Toshiba Corporation.
In total, he has 30 years of engineering, project management, and general management experience, in the nuclear industry with Toshiba Corporation, developing particular technical expertise managing reactor component design and engineering.
Mr. Shiga received a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Tohoku University on 1979.
In Pittsburgh, he participates in various local volunteer activities and serves as a board member of the Japan America Society of Pennsylvania.
